A eco-friendly house starting from the construction system and plant technologies up to attention to the positioning of the house and its orientation in the topography of the land. MORE, a project by an under 30 team, proposes itself as the sole creator of all this, sewing the house of his dreams on the customer, and green, based on prefabrication. Valentina Moretti, one of the architects of the team, returned from the USA on purpose to create MORE. He believed it immediately.
1) How was the MORE project born?
BLACKBERRIES was born in the tradition of the family holding, TERRA MORETTI. I was working in the United States when my father, Vittorio Moretti, asked me to develop a house project that used the prefabrication, to demonstrate its incredible aesthetic and technological potential.
The idea won me over and I immediately returned to Italy, to the company. My father allowed me to personally select the team: I chose architects and engineers under 30 with different and international experiences, full of pure creativity, ideas and enthusiasm. Together we were able to realize an innovative idea of housing and a new construction system and thus the MORE method. The name means that we want to do more and more, look at things from a new angle, reinterpret what is already there to offer serious, responsible and quality responses at affordable prices.
2) What is your peculiarity?
The MORE method declines the prefabrication on the needs and desires of the individual. MORE researches and plans on an industrial scale the best way to build a house through the use of prefabricated buildings. For the first time, we place ourselves as the only point of contact for the final customer, guaranteeing certain times (8 weeks of construction site) and costs (from 1,500 - 2,000 m2 depending on the type of house, size and finish).
The strong point is the perimeter readymade panel which makes the structure defined by the perimeter of the house itself, while the interior spaces can be modified at will whenever desired. The panels are joined by a concrete cast - the external finish can be colored in paste - so the house is unique, solid, anti-seismic and eternal.
The readymade panelmoreover, it is fully equipped with systems, windows and finishes and guarantees excellent energy, acoustic and technological performance.
3) Who is your team composed of and what kind of services do you offer?
We are 3 architects (myself, Alberto Gasparini and Chiara Brenna), a structural engineer (Carlo Tengattini), a management engineer (Gabriele Meneguzzi) and a graphic designer (Salvatore Monteduro).
We offer various services: from design to building practices, from panel production to transport and assembly, from the construction of systems to energy certification, from construction management, to safety, to the choice of finishes. We also offer continuous assistance and we have selected partner of the highest level - Which Poliform for the interior furnishings, lo Davide Groppi studio for lighting engineering, the Capoferri studio for doors and windows - who have worked with us since the early stages of conception, studying unique and customized solutions for each project. This allows us to guarantee our customers customized solutions of the highest quality, at prices optimized by the industrialization of the process.

4) What role does environmental sustainability play in MORE?
MORE's attention to eco-sustainability it starts from the construction system and plant technologies but also lies in the attention to the positioning of the house, its orientation in the topography of the land. This allows you to exploit solar energy, calculating the orientations of the living spaces and their openings. In particular, then, the shell of the house guarantees a consistent response to the parameters of eco-sustainability. The perimeter panels ensure durability over time and a continuous layer of insulation that guarantees excellent thermal and acoustic performance and minimum costs for management and maintenance.
A MORE house can meet the requirements of a “passive house” and responds very well to all the requirements of the current regulations from an energy point of view.
5) What kind of materials do you use most? Are there any materials that you yourself “let the customer discover” that they don't know?
Concrete and wood. In their application we are supported by the experience of our "parent" company, Moretti Industria delle Costruzioni, which for over 40 years has been operating in the construction field with Moretti Interholz (glulam) and Moretti Prefabbricati (concrete). The MORE house has a concrete shell; the perimeter panels and the structure, in fact, are in reinforced concrete. The intermediate floors and the roof, on the other hand, can be made of concrete or laminated wood, depending on the choice of the buyer and / or the house model.
Our concrete is an absolutely innovative material that manages to combine aesthetic versatility (a wide range of textures and nuances of paste colors) with extraordinary performance in terms of energy, acoustics and durability over time.
6) Can concrete be eco-sustainable? Better wood or concrete?
Today's concrete can not only be eco-sustainable but it must be, thanks to the use of recycled substances in the mix and low-temperature cements that lead to the creation of high-performance compact concretes.
MORE concrete is made according to the criteria of eco-sustainability, with a cement capable of absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere, produced with systems that require only 50% of the energy normally used for production and optimizing the use of valuable raw materials. We also use recycled materials that become materials that give excellent mechanical and physical properties to the concrete (return concrete, recycled aggregates, fly ash, blast furnace slag, silica fumes).
A concrete house obviously has different peculiarities from one made of wood, but this does not mean that it has lower characteristics in terms of energy saving or anti-seismic safety, on the contrary. The question is how a building is first designed and built.
7) What trends do you feel about the home today: fears, demands and prejudices?
What all clients pay attention to is the theme ofeco-sustainability he was born in respect for the environment, as well as of energy saving, as well as the anti-seismic solidity.
Among the main fears there is that of the lengthening of construction times, of the management of the various players on the construction site and that of seeing costs rise.
Too many, then, believe that prefabrication necessarily means very very low prices, under any logic, while for us quality remains a fundamental value and our strength lies in being able to provide the customer with a price that remains unchanged until upon delivery of the house "turnkey". Furthermore, the formulation of the estimate to the client has an easy composition method that ensures maximum clarity, transparency of the costs of each alternative proposal and immediacy in the formulation of the economic proposal.
