Kitchens as installations in post-industrial Padua

Market and culture: the two things can go together, indeed, feeding each other with a virtuous contamination that qualifies business without detracting from the sacred value of knowledge. This is why an old industrial building from 1963, born as a warehouse for the famous Lavazza coffee brand, and later became the location of the well-known art gallery Perugi Contemporary Art, becomes now exhibition of kitchen systems and at the same time the setting of a place where you can also organize cultural, musical and theatrical meetings and events. All in a green aura, permeated with natural and innovative materials, under the banner of interior architecture that places the person at the center of all attention.

The idea comes from bulthaup showroom In Padova, Eurema Interni, and the location is an internal courtyard in a charming residential area, in front of the historic Porta Santa Croce through which you arrive in Prato della Valle. The main architectural features make the space the ideal setting for hosting cultural events and kitchens that look like installations: the great internal height of 7 linear meters with a vaulted roof in concrete beams, typical of industrial construction, suggests a theater, a large arched glass window, which opens onto two beautiful cedars of Lebanon, together with the many small windows, flood the place with a surprising brightness, two imposing workshop doors with folding opening create a total relationship with the external space.

The first floor with its rooms, which were originally offices, give the idea of inhabited places overlooking the double height. It is easy to imagine being in the gallery of a theater where the actors are the pieces of design, the result of a careful international selection by Federico Masato, owner and manager of the showroom. The protagonists of this very special setting are the bulthaup kitchen systems.

The installations made with the latest innovations of the three systems, b1, b2 and b3 occupy an area of 110 square meters of the 345 square meters dedicated to the exhibition. An area where the “Living environments” bulthaup are presented at 360 ° thanks to the compositions of kitchen and living projects. A platform built with a smooth concrete cast contained by a strip of raw sheet metal is the base that houses the display of bulthaup kitchen systems. A project carried out in collaboration with the staff of bulthaup architects who, together with the owners, have created a project that highlights not the individual compositions but the system in its entirety.

The space is cut in two horizontally by a nine-meter concrete wall covered with plasterboard. On one side, along the entire wall, a suspended composition b3 and an island composition b3 in gray aluminum with a large walnut counter find their place. On the other hand, the pantry columns and for household appliances (ovens / refrigerators / cellars). Two “pocket” cuts on the wall host all the samples of the materials in the various finishes. A white b1 kitchen and a b2 station with walnut cupboard complete the display.

Eurema Interni is part of the bulthaup distribution network which today has about 40 stores located in major Italian cities. Of these, half are exclusive bulthaup centers, while the others called "shop in shop" are showrooms specialized in contemporary furniture, where, in a special area, the kitchen systems of the company from Aich, known all over the world, are presented. as a high-end brand in the kitchen sector.
