How to become a forest ranger


Do you dream of a job in close contact with the environment? can become a Forest Guard, a profession that cares about environmental protection. To be Forest Guard means to be part of the State Forestry Corps and be in effect judicial police. There Forest Guard has the task of supervising any illegality of the administrative rules, possibly providing for sanctioning the offenses.

The responsibilities include territorial control: hunting, mushroom picking, illegal landfills, fishing in inland waters. They are in charge of the surveillance of protected areas with particular regard to environmental crimes, civil protection and scientific information activities. They are also in charge of controls, on behalf of the European Union, on the protection of forests and the environment.

A challenging job? Here are the requirements for become a Forest Guard. To join the Forest Guard it is necessary to make the selection through competition notices that depend on the Ministry for Agricultural and Forestry Policies. To access the competition some requirements are necessary:

  • Italian citizenship
  • age between 18 and 30 years
  • middle School
  • medical examination that certifies healthy and robust physical constitution
  • fulfillment of military service obligations
  • enjoyment of civil and political rights.

How to become a Forest Guard. Preferential titles
Those who have obtained:

  • high school diploma with agricultural or technical address for surveyors
  • professional training or training in sports federations
  • mountain rescue training
  • ski instructor patents
  • equestrian license
  • alpine guide license or pilot license
  • driving license C or D, nautical license
  • volunteering in forestry activities.

There are many job opportunities. The workforce is divided into different roles such as: managers, officials, inspectors, superintendents, assistants, agents, with judicial police and public security qualifications and experts, auditors, collaborators and operators. Love for the environment is also a serious profession and the forest guards they are a concrete example.
