UBI BANCA won the fifth edition of the Green Globe Banking Award with the project "Environmental Policy". The event, the first in Italy in Green Banking - which since 2006 has enhanced the green behavior of Italian banks - has also dedicated a Special Award to FIRA Green Bank, with the project "FIRA: the financial company that thinks ECO-LOGICALLY". To the Italian Touring Club, as announced in recent days, the honorary prize for environmental behavior.
UBI BANCA, a Bergamo banking institution, according to the Scientific Committee, "has contributed to orienting towards investments with greater energy efficiency, more intensive use ofrenewable energy, greater attention to the characteristics of the buildings e rationalization of consumption, reducing waste and dispersion. This has influenced the behavior of companies and individuals, directing them towards a more virtuous attitude from an environmental point of view. A way of banking that optimally combines economic value with environmental value”.
The Prize was presented by Marco Fedeli, founder of Green Globe Banking and president of the sponsoring company Globiz, at the end of the annual Conference which took place on Thursday 14 June at the headquarters of Banca Popolare di Milano. The relationship of Gianluca Manca (United Nations Environment Program - Finance Initiative) on the role of Corporate Social Responsibility in Italy and abroad he introduced the Conference entitled "From CSR to Green Banking, passing from Innovation, Incentives, New Skills: how to create Economic Value through the environmental responsibility of banks ", which was followed by the round table with Gianfranco Argentin of BPM, Andrea Brumgnach of GIFI - Italian Photovoltaic Companies Group - ANIE-Confindustria, Andrea Nacci of Green Business Executive School, Valter Serrentino of Banca Intesa Sanpaolo, Romano Stasi by ABI LAB.
“We are convinced that the creation of environmental value generates economic value, because today environmental sustainability and economic value are two sides of the same coin”, said Marco Fedeli. "The Green Banking, of which Green Globe Banking is an expression, is therefore not a mere project of corporate social responsibility, but the theoretical foundation of a corporate culture within which business strategies are formed. For banks - he added - doing Green Banking means doing business, possibly more business, through a virtuous dynamic from which customers also benefit ”.
